76: Building 52 projects in 52 weeks as a solo indiepreneur
Hey everyone,
This week I wrote 3 articles: about a GPT app I built to help me learn Spanish, building in public this year, and a 30-day daily Spanish log experiment.
An update: I’ve switched strategy from the VC-backed startup route to a solo indiepreneur “micro startup” approach.
Over the next 3-6 months, I'm going to be trying out a bunch of ideas, building as fast as I can (target: 2 days from idea to MVP) and sharing everything as I go along.
On this list, I'll share:
break-downs of my experiments: what I learn, where I mess up
deep dives into areas I'm planning to build in (AI for automating healthcare, generative language models like chatGPT, drug discovery, language learning and more)
tech to augment human cognitive capabilities (including ‘tools for thought’ like Obsidian)
If you've joined since the last email, my writing combines the following experiences:
I studied Medicine at Cambridge Uni (2011->2017) then worked as a doctor in London
I transitioned from doctor to data scientist, including a masters in machine learning
Since 2021, I've been full-time in start-ups
I've built a bunch of hacky projects that went viral, like my alternative YouTube algorithm (which went top of hackernews and led to a meeting with the YouTube team)
I’ll be sending a short email, mostly linking to things I’ve written or read, once a week.
See you in the next one :)
Chris
PS. I updated my website this week from this:
To this:
Style is more minimalist, but is going to enable more sophisticated functionality which I’ll build over time. One inspiration for me is gwern.net.
Would love to hear any thoughts and feedback.
